Prominent ears are not destiny! There is a solution!

The operation must be done from six years onwards. In children of school age prominent ears can cause psychological trauma. General anaesthesia is given to children below the age of 10 and local anaesthesia to those who are older than this. Wıth local anaesthesia: anaesthetic injections are applied around the ears. The area is completely numbed and no pain is felt during surgery. The operation may last 1.5 to 2 hours.

During the operation; a small incision is made behind the ear and the earlap cartilage tissue is opened. If the concha depth is excessive the cartilage is removed as much as needed. In order to provide curvature toward the back the cartilage is thinned with cartilage files at appropriate points. This thinning process also softens the cartilage making it easier to shape them. Special stitches are applied to make these folds permanent. It is very important to use suitable stitching in this operation. With these stitches the ear auriclecurvatures  are increased ensuring excellent results.

Since the operation is carried out behind the ear no surgical signs are visible externally. The patient is discharged the same day.
